Janine Smith - Principal

Ms Janine Smith's wide ranging knowledge and expertise is a result of her experience as a CEO, Executive Director and Independent Director with companies in the commercial, arts, and education sectors, both in New Zealand and overseas.

She is a Director of: The Warehouse Group Limited; Steel and Tube Holdings Limited; Chair of AsureQuality Limited; and Chair of McLarens Young New Zealand Limited.  Previously she was: Deputy Chair of Airways Corporation of New Zealand; Deputy Chair of Kordia Group Ltd; Director of the Bank of New Zealand; Director of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra; Chair of Custom Fleet New Zealand Limited; and a Trustee of Venture Taranaki, Taranaki's economic development agency.

Janine is also a member of a number of advisory boards and panels in the tertiary education sector, and is a director of several private companies.  Janine's executive roles include GM/CEO and Executive Director of Arnott's New Zealand Limited, part of the Campbell Soup Company USA, and Executive Director of Telecom Directories Limited, part of Telecom Corporation of NZ.

Janine is a well-known judge and convenor of the New Zealand and Australasian Marketing and Advertising Awards. She is an alumnus of the London Business School and the University of Auckland and is a member of the Institute of Directors.  She specialises in boardroom practice, strategic planning, organisational development and organisational change issues for boards and management.  Janine has recently gained a Master of Philosophy for her research from inside the boardroom on governance in New Zealand.
